Rethink EMG Challenge

Improve performance outcomes by combining standard measurement tools and EMG.

Challenge

What is it?

The De Luca Foundation is offering four awards, in the form of cash and surface Electromyography (sEMG) equipment, for proposals using sEMG to augment current performance assessment methods in professions (PT, OT, Athletic Training, Fitness, Geriatrics, Speech, Telehealth) in which human assessment of movement in health and disease are needed.

Why are we doing this?

Recent advances in wearable technology have opened the door for sEMG to be used in all-new settings, where human performance assessments and rehabilitation progress are monitored. This new ability prompts the opportunity to “Rethink EMG.”

We are challenging you to think of new ways of combining EMG technology with current laboratory and/or clinical standards of assessment for applications that could benefit from the capability of measuring neuromuscular function by EMG technology which the award provides.

Applicant Eligibility

If you answer YES to these questions, then you are eligible to apply for the Rethink EMG Challenge (REC)!
