2021 Year in Review

February 8, 2022

2021 was a year where science achieved unthinkable goals.  With a number of COVID-19 vaccines produced and distributed globally, science gave us all a fighting chance against a pandemic that changed our world forever.

With new tools at our disposal to fight the virus, and a reinvigorated passion for scientific advancement, professionals worldwide began returning to work.

The De Luca Foundation made a return in our own right, with the triumphant reintroduction of our annual Delsys Prize and Emerging Scientist Award, two longtime coveted staples of the movement sciences community.

With new medical challenges presenting themselves, we’ve introduced a brand-new campaign, the Rethink EMG Challenge, encouraging our brilliant community to improve quality of life through rapidly advancing technology.

Finally, with a new wave of interest in science immersing the world, we’re providing the next generation of scientists with invaluable opportunities to hone their skills and receive tailored mentorship through a Training Initiative partnership with industry leaders.

Science has provided us with plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the future, and the De Luca Foundation is incredibly grateful to be in a position to offer new opportunities for scientific advancement.
